Our Canadian Flag

Doesn’t our beautiful Canadian Flag, designed and created by Mary Hickey and Don Whitfield, made out of wood, stand out so proudly?

If you didn’t see it when you drove in, look at the front of the building – you can’t miss it.

Congratulations, it looks amazing.

Burning of the Old Canadian Flags

I sent out information that we would have a flag-burning ceremony, before reading the below.

I have since found out:

  • Flags made of natural fibres (wool, cotton, linen) should be burned in a dignified manner, privately, without ceremony or public attention being drawn to the destruction of the material.
  • Flags made of synthetic material (nylon or polyester) should not be burned due to environmental damage and potential fire hazard. They should be respectfully torn into strips, with each element of the flag reduced to a single colour, so that the remaining pieces do not resemble a flag. The individual pieces should then be placed in a bag for disposal – the shreds of fabric should not be reused or repurposed in any way.

I apologize if I offended anyone. We thought we were helping you get rid of old flags.

Dylan Locke Cruise, July 11th

Crusing with Dylan Locke

Friday, July 11th, 2o25

Our Travel Committee purchased tickets for 30+ Bay Shore members to go on a cruise with local celebrity Dylan Lock aboard the Georgian Legacy! We got to enjoy the beautiful historic sights of Georgian Bay, as he serenaded us with live music from the 1960s to the present day.

Thank you, Kim K, Deb G, and the travel committee, for a beautiful night cruise. The weather couldn’t have been more perfect. The sunset was spectacular. Everyone had a wonderful time.

For those of us who were the first off the Georgian Legacy, we got to see Dylan Locke perform a “flag exercise” as his final act of the night. He has certainly been exercising and looks amazing.

Bid Euchre Canada Day

Small, but mighty group of Bid Euchre players all dressed up for Canada Day.

Everyone looked so colourful in their Red and White colours. Rose looked great with her little butterfly Canada Day headband. Unfortunately, I didn’t get a picture of you.

PLEASE NOTE: Bid Euchre will continue throughout July but will be postponed for August and resume in September.
