Pickleball Players
To All Our Pickleball Players
With the increase in players, our time slots have become highly sought after. In fairness to others, if you register for a session and are unable to attend, please remove your name to give those waiting the opportunity to play.
We will be opening up Mondays for Pickleball starting Monday, November 10th. The time slots are Monday, 10:30 – 12:00 pm, and 1:00 – 3:30 pm.

Springwater News
COMMUNITY EVENTS
I have someone dropping changes to me regarding our Community Events page of the Springwater News. Thank you! However, I have changed the information for the last few edits. Yes, there was a mail strike for a while; however, we did receive our paper from October 23rd without the changes I requested.
I wrote Linda at Springwater News.
I have made these corrections. I have been getting your submissions.
Linda Belcourt
I want to let you know that I am not being remiss in updating the paper and will meet with her next week to see what’s going on. Our Bingo and Mini Putt are still in the paper, and our new activities are not.

October Events
Volunteer Appreciation – Oct 18th;
Volunteer of the Year
C-elebration of Life – Reg & Donna Dollimore – Oct 25
October has undoubtedly been a busy month at Bay Shore.
Volunteer Appreciation Luncheon
It was a great afternoon, with Mandy Meisner, bringing back the “British Invasion”. Definitely dance music! Please bring her back—I hear from members. Nica’s finger food was delicious, as usual. And of course, all the little extras Lynn brings to the table to bring it all together.
Volunteer of the Year
And, our Volunteer of the Year, 2025 goes to: Judy Cabell!! She brightens up every room and jumps into action. Participates in Bid Euchre, Shuffleboard, and Darts, which is her passion. When chairs are to be moved, or we need set-up for an event, you know you can count on her. She has volunteered on the Sub-committee of the Constitution, and now the By-Law, and she faithfully keeps our General Meetings fueled with tea, coffee, and snacks. With her calendar in hand, she is ready to help out with any events coming our way. Thank you, and Congratulations, Judy.
Celebration of Life – Reg & Donna Dollimore
A bustling, full house to celebrate Reg and Donna. They were a part of our Club for many years. Both were Lifetime Members, and Reg was an Honourary Member as well. Their family arrived at 1:00, which gave them time to spend together before the other guests arrived at 1:30 – 2:00. Again, Nica came through with finger food; she planned for 150 guests, and hardly anything was left. It was a wonderful send-off for such special people as Reg and Donna Dollimore.
Halloween Afternoon
Drop into the Club tomorrow/today, Thursday, October 30th, for our Goulosh luncheon and an afternoon of games and fun. And you have to try our Bartender’s Halloween Drink—I hear it’s delicious. Drop in at 12:30 for lunch, and games will start thereafter.
A huge CONGRATULATIONS to LYNN for adding her extra touches and for being so passionate about our events—they have been successful thanks to her creative mind and her ability to bring her creations to life.

Convenors – Call to New Members
We are finally up to date with adding our new members.
We have listed their names on a form, following the activities in which they expressed interest.
You will see on the bulletin board in the Main Hall all the Activities held there. The Sign-In Table in the Craft Room has forms for Crafts, Access Art, Wood Carving, and Book Club. New members interested in Pool are in the Pool room, and Cribbage has a list in the lounge.
You may find that some of these new members have already joined your Activity. When you call, just mention they had indicated on their Application Form that they were interested in your Activity and you were calling to welcome them.
Thank you,
Lorri

Burning of the Old Canadian Flags
I sent out information that we would have a flag-burning ceremony, before reading the below.
I have since found out:
- Flags made of natural fibres (wool, cotton, linen) should be burned in a dignified manner, privately, without ceremony or public attention being drawn to the destruction of the material.
- Flags made of synthetic material (nylon or polyester) should not be burned due to environmental damage and potential fire hazard. They should be respectfully torn into strips, with each element of the flag reduced to a single colour, so that the remaining pieces do not resemble a flag. The individual pieces should then be placed in a bag for disposal – the shreds of fabric should not be reused or repurposed in any way.
I apologize if I offended anyone. We thought we were helping you get rid of old flags.

The ladies had a lot of fun and wanted to make more.
Great event once again, ladies!
Downsizing or Selling Your Home & Insurance
Downsizing or Selling Your Home & Insurance
Nadine McMaster co-hosted this highly informative event with Jill Richards of Co-operators Insurance on June 19th at 6:30 pm at the Bay Shore Seniors Club.
Nadine went into great detail on how to make your home more appealing with budgets of $200, $500, and $1,000. We also learned about all the excellent contacts she has established over the past 16 years in the business. If you need help during the process, packing or getting rid of furniture, she’s your woman.
We also met Jill Richards, CEO of Co-operators Insurance, a Canadian-owned company. She too, was very informative, on investments, insurance and advice. Especially with the advice. Jill will break down the items in your insurance and explain them in a way you can understand.
An excellent presentation, if only the Smart TV would cooperate. Carolyn Shellswell won the Adirondack chairs and table. Congratulations!
