Drivers Needed

Bay Shore is looking for volunteer drivers for our members to drive them to our activities.

We have one member in the Deanlea area who needs a driver. You don’t need to drive him to all his activities, but it would be very helpful if you attended one he is interested in and picked him up on the way.

If you are interested in helping out, please email us at info@bayshoreseniors.ca. We can put your name on a list, and if a member needs a ride in your area, we can call you.

I appreciate your consideration.

Very Strange Things Happening

Last Wednesday night, pickleball’s attendance money was left in the kitchen. Sometime between Wednesday at 6:00 p.m. and Thursday, by 2:00 p.m., somebody stole the money. When the member went to pick up the cash at Darts, it was gone.

And if that wasn’t bad enough, Lynn put her lunch in the fridge on Friday before Shuffleboard. When she went to eat it, it was gone.

This is YOUR CLUB. I can’t believe members would steal from other members. If you have any conscience, please return the money to the kitchen, and no questions will be asked.

Thank you,

Lorri

Travel News

Travel News

We have been busy putting together some trip ideas for the next few months and, yes, even Christmas!

The first one is slightly different, as we booked this one with Hamilton Tours.
Unfortunately, we must move quickly as this one is in June. We have been given two dates: Wednesday, June 12th, and Wednesday, June 19th. The 19th will give us two meetings to get everything in order. We also have to guarantee 40 passengers. Look at this one, as it sounds like a good time with a trip down memory lane.

We will contact you for payment once we know the numbers and the date.
Make sure you come out on Tuesday, May 14th, to sign up for this one and see what else
is coming!

After the general meeting, you can contact us to add your name to the list.
Remember we need 40 people for this trip.

Empty Wine Bottles Anyone!

We have a member who is making their wine. They are short six white and six red 750-litre bottles. If you have some lying around and are wondering what to do with them, here’s an opportunity to find a good home for them.

If you do, please email me at info@bayshoreseniors.ca. Next time you are in, we can collect the bottles from you.

Wood in Wood Carvers Shed

Several pieces of wood in the Wood Carvers shed don’t belong to them.

If the wood is yours or you know whose it is, please let us know as soon as possible. Otherwise, the Woodcarvers will toss it.

Thank you,

Roger Boughton

After what was supposed to be a Triple Bypass Surgery last Thursday, it turned out to be a Quadruple Bypass Surgery once he was on the Operating table. Therefore, Roger spent extra time in the ICU. He has improved enough to be transferred to St. John’s Rehab, just north of Toronto, where he expects to stay for a few weeks.
He is “Slowly” making progress daily.
We continue to keep him in our thoughts and prayers, and we sure miss him.

49th Anniversary Tea

First, I want to thank all our dedicated volunteers who made our 49th Anniversary Tea a success. Our committee comprised Dee Colton, Carolyn Shelswell, Sue Millington, Judy Cabell, Lynn Davis, and myself. Our set-up committee – Friday’s pickleball players, Sue Millington, Lynn Davis, Judy Cabell, Dee and Gord Colton, George Hayles, Carolyn Shelswell, Bev Grant, Willi Menzies and myself. Take down committee – all of the above, along with Don and Karen Whitfield, Caroline Eden, and others who offered to pitch in (huge thank you).

Ticket takers: Lynn Davis and Lina Bertucci;  Boutonnières placed on Lifetime and Honourary Members: Dee Colton and Carolyn Shelswell; Share the Wealth: Caroline Eden and Sue Millington. Bar: Sandy McLoughlin and Norm McLaughlin.

I couldn’t believe it when I woke up to the snow. Big, giant snowflakes. Finally, they stopped around 11:00, melted, and the sun came out. Most of our members arrived around 1:30 – 2:00 p.m. You could feel the excitement of older members seeing one another again. We had a couple of special guests: Marjorie Evans and her daughter, Madaline Spence and her daughter and son-in-law, along with Kay Wilson. So wonderful to see you.

We had an extraordinary light luncheon that Nica prepared above and beyond with edible flowers, homemade macaroons, delicious scones, fruit skewers, salmon with cream cheese and capers, and our regular sandwiches.

We presented a gift to our three past presidents who had attended: Madaline Spence, Rosella Laux, and Sandy Baker.

Then we presented our Honourary Member for 2024: Mo Parkes, one of my favourite people. It was a long time coming, but well worth the wait, as I got to present the award to her.

Share the Wealth Winners: Pam Bronson, Norma Vienneau, and Madaline Spence.

We drew a ticket for the Boston Pizza certificate for $50.00, and the winner was Shirley Richardson.

Then we relaxed and listened to the beautiful music by Adrien Robitaille.

Thank you to our 80+ attendees who made our afternoon a wonderful day.

Membership Mailbox & File Holders

Membership Mailbox

We have installed the new membership mailbox outside the handicapped washroom, beside the Club’s Mail. If you are dropping off your membership, payment, or anything related to membership, you can slip it into the mailbox instead of dropping it off in the office.

File Holders

We have installed five file holders outside the office. These currently hold our Activities & Committee information, the Convener’s Contact information, the Schedule of Activities, and the Convener’s Trustee Reports. This will make it much easier for you to find any information you need.

Thank you, Don, for installing the above for us.
