Meeting for Convenors

During our last meeting, we realized there was much to absorb about the changes you had to make to your Green Book accounting regarding where money goes in your activity.

Lina has been reviewing the books and felt it might be a good idea to have an update meeting to ensure we are all on the same page.

The meeting is scheduled for Thursday, September 12, at 11:00 a.m. Please advise whether you will be attending.

Thank you,

Lorri

Madeline’s 100th Birthday Celebration

Marilyn Lester, Rita & Peter Premich, Audrey Murray, and I attended Madeline’s 100th Birthday Celebration last Tuesday.

It was at the Silver Lakes Golf and Country Club, and about 50 people were present. It was an excellent presentation, seeing Madeline look so wonderful and meeting her family. She is still living on her own and doing well.

Her sister and daughter came from Australia. Madeline hadn’t seen her 95-year-old sister in 15 years, so it was a memorable occasion.

The mayor of Barrie came in and presented Madeline with a government plaque commemorating her 100th Birthday. Barrie CTV gave a short presentation that evening after the weather forecast.

Congratulations, Madeline; we were pleased to be part of your 100th Birthday.

Revised Email: Garage Space for ’69 Corvette

Hi there… I’m a fellow club member looking for a garage to store my 1969 Corvette for the winter. It would be required for November through May.

The garage should be in the local club area, dry, and lockable, without heat or electricity. I am willing to pay fair rent, and the car will be insured.

HISTORY DAY

HISTORY DAY

Unfortunately, I could not attend History Day last Saturday due to an emergency. However, I was there Friday while they set up and saw their wonder displays full of historical information about Woodland Beach.

I have heard rave reviews from many people who attended. They had a great turnout. The WBPOA was very informative, and the greeters were very friendly and answered questions.

Here is a note I was sent from one of our members:

Just a note to let all involved know what an EXTRA SPECIAL EVENT
** HISTORY DAY**  was.   I wish it were possible to keep it on display much longer.   I sure hope all those amazing boards are stored.——-Perhaps to be displayed yearly —or somehow.???  Between the wonderful crowd and my failing eyesight, I could not take it all in at one time🤪😜
Of course, the delicious treats and happy greeters added to a super event.      Congratulations to all  🎉. 💐. 🌹.  Bunny Trace

Congratulations, Woodland Beach Property Owners Association, for such an informative and successful event at the Bay Shore Seniors’ Club.

Award Winning Woodpecker

I heard the disturbing news on Friday but have not been able to write until now. Winston, a member of the woodcarving group, had his award-winning woodpecker taken from Bay Shore’s display.

If this was you, please return it—no questions asked. We want the carving returned. If you know something about the woodpecker’s disappearance, please speak to someone on the Executive Board.

Due to this incident, we can no longer display our woodcarvers’ splendid work. Winston has had no alternative but to take all his pieces back home.

I will ask Don about getting some glass cabinet doors, and we will lock them up.

Thank you for any help in returning the carving.

Calling All Convenors

Activity Start Up – September

Our Conveners did a sensational job last season, especially when we had to change our recording system in the Green Books for ONCA. If you are still unsure of the new system, Lina will call a meeting in mid-September to review it.

I hope you took part of the summer to consider whether you will return as our Convener for your specific activity. Please email info@bayshoreseniors.ca and advise when you will be starting up in September. I will then send out an updated FALL Activities Schedule.

If you are not returning as the Convener for your activity, you must find someone within your group to take over.

Thank you,

Lorri
