Revised Title: What Does Bay Shore Seniors Club

Sorry, my 1st publication of this Eblast missed half the title.
The Provincial Government has named June “Seniors Month.” This year is dedicated to Working for Seniors, which recognizes the importance of seniors keeping active, well and safe in their communities. As you may be aware, this the government who provides us with our Operationing and Special Grants.
They would like us to tell them, “What does Bay Shore Seniors Club Do for you; or MEAN to you?” For one individual, since playing Shuffleboard, her heart beats per minute have risen from 20 to 40 beats/minute. For another, it’s the friendships they have made over the years.
Please help us by writing something about what the Club has done for you; or what it means to you.
Thank you in advance for taking a few minutes to respond to this request.

What does Bay Shore

The Provincial Government, which provides us with the Grants that keep us running, celebrates Seniors Month in June.
The theme for Seniors Month this year is Working for Seniors, which recognizes the importance of seniors keeping active, well and safe in their communities.
They would like us to tell them, “What does Bay Shore Seniors Club do for you or mean to you?” For one individual, since playing Shuffleboard, her heart beats per minute have risen from 20 to 40 beats/minute. For another, it’s the friendships they have made over the years.
Please help us by writing something about what the Club has done for you; or what it means to you.
Thank you very much in advance for taking a few minutes to respond to this request.

Orientation for New Members

We are having a “New Member Orientation” on Thursday, June 29th, from 2:00 – 4:00 pm. We would like you to help us set up and tear down, along with helping prepare for this new yearly event.
I have one individual who has offered to volunteer. I would like to hear from a couple more members, please. Lynn will put out a sign-up sheet for those interested in setting up and tearing down. Again, if interested, either reply to this email or send an email to info@bayshoreseniors.ca.
Also, I want to thank those member who have stepped up for the BBQ and Corn Roast. It looks like we can have these two events in the summer. Any more interested members, please sign your name on the signup sheets.
Thank you for supporting your Club,
Lorri
Bay Shore Bowling

I have been speaking to the Springwater Lanes Bowling Centre, 120 Yonge Street N, Elmvale, about Bay Shore starting up a Bowling League. We can try it out over the summer to see if this is a place you would like to start a league. Then in September, if we are still interested, we can begin a club either Monday, Tuesday or Friday.
Could you send me an email at info@bayshoreseniors.ca if you are interested? If you need help getting to me through the above email, click on this email and send me your reply. I know a few of you would like to play, so let’s try it together and see what you think.
Cheers,
Lorri
Message from YOUR Nomination Committee

We will soon be going through the membership list, searching for members interested in volunteering for a position on the Executive.
Two positions have yet to be filled from last year, and it is very disappointing that we almost have to beg for someone to step up and fill the vacancies. We now have the position for Recording Secretary opening up, along with a director and 1st Vice President that need to be filled. Without a Recording Secretary, the club will have no choice but to close. You must run an organization with one, as meeting minutes are mandatory.
Also, 1st Vice President helps to take some of the responsibilities off the president’s plate, as does the 2nd Vice President, who has been learning the job over the last year and those who are left are sometimes overwhelmed.
Going into the 2023-2024 election, we will have an opening for 2nd Vice President. This would be a great time to learn the ropes on the team.
This club runs on volunteers, but it is always the same people volunteering over and over. We need new blood that will bring fresh ideas and be willing to help. Many of the members that keep volunteering are reaching the point of exhaustion and various health issues. So please help YOUR club by stepping up and volunteering for one of the vacant positions.
We look forward to hearing from you before we have to call you!

Travel News
We missed seeing you at the general meeting, and we are sad, but we have some good news to share, we have put out two trips for later this summer, but we need you to make them happen.
The first trip is Thursday, August 10, 2023, and we are off to St. Jacobs market for some shopping time at the market, then lunch at Golf’s Steak House and Seafood Restaurant. After you have filled your belly, we will see “A Perfect Wedding” at the St. Jacobs Schoolhouse Theatre.
This fun day away is $225.00 pp.
The second trip is Wednesday, September 13, 2023, and we travel down the HWY to the Niagara Parks Power Station for a guided tour and a trip down to the TUNNEL. After your adventure to see the falls from below, we head up to Table Rock House Restaurant to see the falls from above and enjoy a nice relaxing lunch. After lunch, we start our journey home but stop at Forty Creek Distillery in Grimsby for some tasty BBQ sauce and their excellent whisky!
This wonderful day out is just $189.00 pp.
Detailed information and sign-up sheets are at the club. We require a non-refundable deposit of $25.00 pp for each trip. Tickets are limited, so please get your names on the list if interested. You can call one of our committee members to have your name put on the list, and we will be at the club for the June meeting to accept your full or partial payments.
I am looking forward to seeing and hearing from you soon!
