QiGong Tai Chi

I’m very excited to let you know one of our members, Wendy Vandergrient, is interested in teaching us QiGong Tai Chi. Is there an interest in taking a four (4) week class in September?
QiGong Tai Chi is flowing low-impact, slow, continuous, gentle movements. It is a moving meditation that helps improve balance, strength, and breath while enhancing concentration. It is primarily done standing but can easily be accessible for all fitness levels, including a chair option. Participants wear running shoes and comfortable clothing.
The time slots Wendy would be available for teaching are either Monday or Wednesday. I’m trying to fit Tai Chi into our schedule. Times I’ve come with are Monday mornings at either 10:00 am or 11:30 am or Wednesday mornings at 11:00am. We will see what is most popular and if we can move some activities around.
This is for both men and women. Let me know if you are interested and which time slot. Send an email to info@bayshoreseniors.ca.
Thank you,
Lorri
Our Health – Home and Health

An in-depth review of HOMELESSNESS!
Homelessness is a significant problem in Simcoe County. In Canada, homelessness has grown in size and complexity. Previously a crisis only in urban centres, it now reaches all areas and requires more services and resources. Today, in this country, it is estimated there are 35,000 people, so described…… likely more! The homeless include men, women, youth, seniors, veterans, gender diverse, and the mentally ill. This presentation by Our Health will examine how homelessness affects mental and physical health!
Please join us on September 15 at Bay Shore Seniors Club at 7:30 PM.

Roaring Twenties Crossword

To get us into the mood for our roaring twenties dance on September 23rd called “Hear Us Roar,” Kevin has taken us back to that era with terms and slang from that time.
Go to Activities, Games, and Crossword to get to the crossword puzzle.
Please give it a whirl and good luck!

Bay Shore Golf League 2023

Hello Golfers,
As mentioned previously, Linda & John Green are stepping down as Convenors for the Bay Shore golf league in 2023.
This is one of Bay Shore’s most popular activities with over 70 members. We want to continue this activity but need a few members to lead this league. Most of the work is now done by Orr Lake Golf Course, for which we are thankful.
Please let Linda Green, Carol Hackney or Morgan Harris know if you can help out with this league in 2023.
Thank you,
Carol and Linda
Making Coffee, or Ordering Cake

We are looking for two or three volunteers to help make tea and coffee during our General Meeting on Tuesday, August 9th. We would require you to be in the kitchen around 1:30 pm.
Due to Peggy Brown’s health, she has had to give up ordering our cake. Would anyone like to step up and collect and pick up our cake at Food Land in Wasaga? Please let us know.
Thank you, Peggy; I hope you feel better soon.
If you can help make coffee/tea or order the cake, email info@bayshoreseniors.ca.
Thank you,
Lorri
Membership Due at General Meeting

It’s that time once again for Membership renewal. It’s been a very tough few years, but our membership has stayed strong, and I want to thank you for continually participating and enjoying all the new and older activities we have running.
This year right off the top, we are looking forward to a roaring good time with a dance scheduled later in September called “Hear Me Roar.” Tickets will be on sale at the General Meeting on Tuesday, August 9th. We also have our Volunteer Night in October, where we thank all our wonderful volunteers, promising a fun evening. And, I hear through the grapevine that Travel is planning another adventure, but you need to attend the General Meeting to hear all about it.
Sandy Baker will have a table set up in the lounge to take your membership half an hour before the meeting starts and will be back at the end. Don’t forget to bring your cheque for $25.00 to renew.
If you are a new member, pick up your application, fill it out neatly, and sign. This year’s membership is $25, with a pin on your name badge $31.00; or, if you wish, a magnet on your name badge $34.00.
I hope to see many of you out to renew your membership and to hear all the exciting news.

Smart Serve Certification

The Alcohol and Gaming Commission of Ontario has changed the regulations for those with their Smart Serve. You must be recertified if you received your Smart Serve before 2018.
Jim Park is negotiating with Career Solutions in Wasaga Beach to see if they will hold a class for us. If you are interested in getting your recertification or it’s your first time applying for your Smart Serve, please email info@bayshoreseniors.ca before Monday, July 25th.
We are hoping if there are enough people interested, Career Solutions will do the class in Wasaga Beach.
Thank you for your prompt attention to this request,
