Annual General Meeting
Annual General Meeting
Tuesday, August 13th at 2:00 p.m. is our Annual General Meeting. We need to have a quorum to sign off on the Constitutional changes. It will not be as confusing as last year; we only have two changed items.
Final elections for the executive board will also take place. We have a few positions available. Maybe you’ve been thinking about it and need to take that leap of faith.
Travel needs your deposit. Again, if this is something you’ve been thinking about, take the leap and try one the trips that are being offered.
Learn what’s in store for our 50th Anniversary and enjoy some delicious fresh treats Anita so gracefully brings us.
I hope to see you there, supporting YOUR Club!

You can pay your $25.00 non-refundable deposit in cash, and the remainder can be paid by cash or cheque. We have heard it is a great show and has been close to selling out shows! If you have considered joining us, today is the day. It is always a great day out with friends!
We are also accepting the $25.00 non-refundable deposit for the Christmas trip.
For those who signed up and those who were thinking of signing up for the Quebec trip, we inquired about what the side trip would be, and here are the outings:
– Visit Les Jardins Aromes and Saveurs (a lavender and herbs garden) and Miel de Chez-Nous (a honey house and boutique) on the 2nd day
– Visit to Que Seme Recolte (a Cider House / Orchard / Maple Grove / etc) on the 3rd day
While we have these outings planned, please note that they may change if any unforeseen issues arise. We are committed to ensuring a smooth and enjoyable trip for all our participants, and we will keep you updated on any changes.
We hope this information helps, but unfortunately, we must know by the meeting day to give our final numbers. The prices are based on 15 passengers.

Gentle Chair Yoga
I love how I live and learn. It’s usually not just me who is affected; it’s the whole Club!
Well, Lorri, here you go again. Summer wasn’t the best time to start Yoga. However, interestingly enough, our instructor, Sonia Kadlec, is doing Gentle Yoga on the beach in Woodland on Saturdays for $15.00 a class, and she has six attendees. Is it because it’s outdoors, or it’s on a Saturday?
We are not getting enough members out. So, we are going to postpone the Yoga classes for the summer. We will start up again in September at $45.00 for six weeks, that’s $7.50 a class. If you paid for six weeks and received only four in the summer, we will carry your money to September classes. We need at least six members to attend to make it viable.
For those who wish to contribute their three cents (inflation), please email me and let me know. Would you be interested in Yoga if it was outside in the summer? Would weekend classes be more popular? What about the time? Or, you want to go to Yoga but are too busy through the summer with gardening, family, entertaining, etc. My email is info@bayshoreseniors.ca
I would appreciate feedback; that way, I don’t have to learn another lesson in front of everyone.
Thanks, Lorri
Very Successful BBQ
What a terrific get-together with our friends at Bay Shore. I believe everyone had a wonderful time, especially being outside. The weather was perfect; we couldn’t have asked for a better day.
The garden looked so beautiful, and the trumpet lily tree (I believe) at the side by our new door looked impressive with its red flowers. The gardening team edged around the whole garden and weeded around the picnic benches. It looked like one of those gardens out of “House & Homes.” What hard work and a fantastic job; thank you, Karen Whitfield, Sandy Baker, Bev Grant, Kerry Thomason, and Don Whitfield.
Don Whitfield completed our brand-new door just in time to celebrate our BBQ outside. Thank you, Don, for all your hard work preparing the door. We can’t thank you enough for the free-will offering.
While outside enjoying the weather and chatting with friends, we enjoyed cool beverages and playing games (bean bag toss was a huge success). All I had to do was stand to the far…far left, and I got her in. Thx for the tip, Helen! Speaking of Helen, you get her in a game, and the fun begins with just watching her or laughing along. Pinning the chips on the clothesline was a neat way to get your treat.
Here is our tiny village of helpers who made it all happen: Sheila Brown, Cathy McDonald, Dee Colton, Peggy Hawthorn, Sharon Buchy, Grieg Stewart, Don and Karen Whitfield, Corrine Robb, Hellen Manion, Sue Millington, Lidia Trimble, Bev Grant, Judy Wagner, Marilyn Lester and Marlene Miller. And our amazing BBQers: Greg Manion, Terry Millington, Bill Brown, and I hear Gord Colton in spirit! Without all of YOU, we couldn’t do these events. Thank you so much for volunteering.
Congratulations, Lynn Davis, on another very successful event. With all your creative ideas and prep work, you always make events come together. And you enjoyed it! I’m glad you’re on our team!
Until we see you at our next get-together, the Corn Roast, on Thursday, August 15th, have a safe and wonderful summer. Speaking of tickets, they are available on Wednesdays and Fridays from 12 – 3 p.m. for a $5.00 refundable ticket. Remember how successful last year’s event was and those tasty desserts? You don’t want to miss out.
Thank you to all our members and friends who joined us to make our BBQ as successful as possible.
